Welcome to the

Niles-Buchanan YMCA

The Niles-Buchanan YMCA strengthens the foundations of our community through well-being and fitness, camps, swim, sports and play, and other activities for people of all ages, incomes and abilities. We’re more than just a place to work out. At the Y, we help build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all with the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility at the heart of everything we do.

With a commitment to nurturing youth development, promoting healthy living, and fostering a sense of social responsibility, the Y ensures that every individual has access to the essentials needed to learn, grow and thrive.

On Wednesday, Jan. 23, the Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) launched the new MI Healthier Tomorrow campaign aimed at helping people make the changes to impact their future today by asking Michigan residents to pledge to lose 10 percent of their body weight. The Y is one of several important partner organizations that is offering support for this program. This means you can expect to see an impact right here in Niles!

We have exciting news! The Y is exploring a potential partnership with Ultra Camp to provide racquetball courts to our members. They are building new offices by Plym Park just behind our back parking lot and are considering including racquetball courts.

We are conducting an online survey to assess interest. Paper copies are also available at our Member Services Center. What you say could make an impact! Let us know your thoughts.

The Niles-Buchanan YMCA will host a Community Winter Preparedness Day in collaboration with the American Red Cross of Berrien County in celebration of Martin Luther King Day. The public is invited to participate in this informative event held at the YMCA from 10:00 am until 4:30 pm.

The Niles-Buchanan YMCA is offering a new, exciting and colorful 5K on June 22, 2013 and you get to name it! This event has been called the most fun and the happiest race in the world. People of all ages and abilities run or walk an untimed 5K and along the route they enjoy being showered with the colors of the rainbow! These races are selling out all over the country in major metropolitan areas. We decided to do our own - why should they have all the fun? Read more for contest details.

The Niles-Buchanan YMCA will be running a membership special Friday, January 18th thru Sunday, January 20th during the Hunter Ice Festival. Stop by the Niles-Buchanan YMCA at 905 N. Front Street or visit the YMCA sponsored Warming Station at 127 E. Main to join the Y and have the normal joiner fee waived (savings of up to $100).

The new year means a lot of people are making healthy resolutions. The most popular being exercise to lose weight, strength training to get in shape and adopting better eating habits. Fox 28 recently dropped by the Niles-Buchanan YMCA to find out what new year's resolutions we suggest for 2013! Be sure to watch the video segments that feature our Y!

We all know the benefits of youth sports. Basketball is a game that uniquely focuses on team play, good sportsmanship and the role of the individual player in the success of the team. These life skills, along with the YMCA character values of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility are the cornerstones of the Y’s kids’ league. We are always on the lookout for great coaches! Are you a parent or someone who loves sports and wants to be a role model? Why not volunteer some of your time and help teach players teamwork, cooperation and good values!

The Niles-Buchanan YMCA would not be the heart and soul of the community without the hundreds of children, teens and families who are a part of our YMCA family. As the 2012 year comes to a close, we want to thank our many members, volunteers and staff for allowing the YMCA to be a significant part of your life. Happy Holidays from all your friends at the Niles-Buchanan YMCA. We wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. The Niles-Buchanan YMCA is open special hours during the holidays.

Real Life Church is presenting a Live Nativity on Sunday, December 23rd from 5:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. This free event for all ages will be held in cooperation with the Niles-Buchanan YMCA located at 905 N. Front Street, Niles. You are invited to step back into Bethlehem and revisit the night of the birth of Christ.

Parents, do you have to work or need time to clean up the house after the holidays? Are your kids asking to do something fun and exciting? Are you wondering how you’re going to entertain them for the next two weeks? Let the Niles-Buchanan YMCA do that for you! The Niles-Buchanan YMCA is offering our annual Winter Ruckus!
