Welcome to the

Niles-Buchanan YMCA

The Niles-Buchanan YMCA strengthens the foundations of our community through well-being and fitness, camps, swim, sports and play, and other activities for people of all ages, incomes and abilities. We’re more than just a place to work out. At the Y, we help build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all with the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility at the heart of everything we do.

With a commitment to nurturing youth development, promoting healthy living, and fostering a sense of social responsibility, the Y ensures that every individual has access to the essentials needed to learn, grow and thrive.

We're inviting you and your family to join us for our YMCA Soup Night on Thursday, October 18, 2012 from 5:30 - 7:00 pm. All are welcome! Soup and Health Information on the importance of Volunteering will be provided! Flu shots will also available $30 (cash, check, or Medicare only).

The following recipe will be served at the Niles-Buchanan YMCA Soup Night:

We have exciting news for you health seekers! We are pleased to introduce New Fitness Classes to our already diverse exercise selection. At the Niles-Buchanan YMCA we offer numerous fitness and recreation programs to assist you in being active and to help you lead a healthy lifestyle. The long term benefits include lowering blood pressure and cholesterol levels, helping control blood sugar and increasing energy levels. Part of our mission is to help you in your quest for health. Our mission is to build a strong you.

Attention runners & athletes! It's time to start training again because our Annual YMCA Thanksgiving Day Run will be here sooner than you think. Every Thanksgiving, hundreds of runners have gathered in Niles to run in our annual Thanksgiving Day Run in support of the Y's financial assistance fund.

It’s never too early to start thinking about Spring! It's always rewarding to see your Tulips, Daffodils and Tiger Lillies growing together because of your nurturing and hard work! However, flowers aren't the only things you can help grow. At the Y, For Youth Development is one of our key focus areas. We believe the values and skills learned early on are vital building blocks for life. At the Y, children learn values and positive behaviors, and can explore their unique talents and interests, helping them realize their potential. That makes for confident kids today and contributing and engaged adults tomorrow.

You can help the Niles-Buchanan Y’s Learning Tree Preschoolers grow by being a part of their nurturing and growth. Our annual Spring Bulb Fundraising Sale is going on now!

Did you know you can do your part in helping the Niles-Buchanan YMCA's Learning Tree Preschool program just by doing your everyday grocery shopping? Each time you shop and use your Martin's Advantage Card, now through March 8th, 2013 your purchase will automatically earn our Preschoolers the needed educational tools to continue learning! Be a part of ensuring a brighter future for our children. Visit or their Customer Service desk to learn more and mention school ID# 4266.

And who says adults don't have fun at the Y too? Our Competitive & Mid-Level Adult Volleyball League is kicking off this October! It's designed for men and women who want to have fun in the camaraderie of others while getting an excellent workout. So what are you waiting for? Get your family and friends together for an exciting season of volleyball and great fun!

Hey Parents! Mark this on your calendars. Our Youth Volleyball and Basketball Leagues will be taking registration at the end of the month and you'll want to make sure and get your kids signed up before the teams fill up! Our Y leagues encourage and promote healthy and strong kids, families and communities by placing a priority on family involvement, healthy competition rather than rivalry, the value of participation over winning, team building as well as individual development, a positive self-image and a sense of fair play and mutual respect for others!

Our Y recently received a very special guest. Michigan State Senator John Proos visited our Niles-Buchanan YMCA for a tour and a chat with our staff and Y members. It wasn't too long after meeting that we realized we shared many of the same concerns for our community whether it be youth development, healthy living or social responsibility.

On September 24th join us in celebrating Family Day! Family Day - Family dinner - is a national movement to inform parents that the parental engagement fostered during frequent family dinners is an effective tool to help keep America's kids substance free. Y-USA and CASA are encouraging all families to participate in order to provide a perfect opportunity to deepen relationships and improve their well-being.

Our Main Pool will be closed for maintenance and painting from August 26 - September 9, 2012. Our Warm Water Therapy Pool will remain open during this time. Please see our Pool Schedule or check with our Member Service Staff for Adult and Family times. We apologize for any inconvenience or disruption to your wellness routine. However we are confident that you will appreciate the work we will do, and that our pool will be more enjoyable. Thank you for your understanding!
