AQUATICS
The YMCA is the place where many people will begin their journey on becoming and staying active and developing healthy habits that will continue throughout their lives. And, the benefits are far greater than just physical health. Whether it’s gaining the confidence that comes from learning to swim or building the positive relationships that lead to good sportsmanship and teamwork, participating in aquatics at the Y is about building the whole person, from the inside out.




SWIM LESSONS


The YMCA is a national leader in swim instruction and water safety. YMCA aquatics programs are designed to teach personal water safety and swimming skills to everyone. Our instructors are nationally certified in aquatic safety and swim instruction. Classes arrange swimmers broadly into age groups and then by skill level as kids progress through the instruction program. Our progressive-swim instruction method uses a problem-solving, guided-discovery teaching approach in a positive, caring environment.

ADULT LAP SWIM


Lap swim offers swimmers a great cardiovascular workout. Even a few laps can have a positive impact on your well-being. Whatever pace you work at, come enjoy our relaxing waters and get healthier at the same time. Every effort is made so that at least one lap lane is reserved for lap swim at all times. We offer kickboards, fins, and pull buoys to add to your workout. We encourage lane sharing and circle swimming.

WATER AEROBICS


The pool is great for exercise because the water offers resistance while reducing the impact of land-based exercises. Water fitness classes are a fun way to exercise, and the low-impact workout builds strength and flexibility for people of all ages.

OPEN SWIM


Visiting the pool is a great family activity, and the Y makes sure families can enjoy swimming together. We reserve “Open Swim” time in our pools every week so that individuals and families can enjoy the pool together. Check our pool schedule for open swim times and availability. Please note that safety is our highest priority and that we require children to be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

SWIM TEAM


Joining a swim team develops confidence and self-discipline in kids. Besides learning new skills, kids build comraderie and enjoy the challenge of racing in the pool. Y swim teams emphasize the value of competition through teamwork, sportsmanship and doing one's best. Our swim coaches strive to offer a well-rounded, values-centered program for every level of swimmer.

POOL SAFETY


The pool is a great place to have fun and exercise but the most important thing at the Y is your safety. In an effort to provide you with the safest environment possible, our staff attends mandatory monthly in-service trainings and is audited regularly. The Welcome Center has lifeguard evaluations and quick checks that provide a fast, easy and effective way for you to help us assess our guards.

CERTIFICATIONS


Training in lifesaving skills such as lifeguarding and CPR present opportunities for youth to take on greater responsibility for themselves and others.
